Pre/Postnatal Training

Prenatal Exercise

Prior to 2017 Megan had predominately worked with athletes. She had interned with collegiate teams at Montclair State University and completed a rotation working at the Jets training facility in Florham Park NJ.

While she was pregnant with her first, Megan found a huge gap in the fitness training world. Women make up about 50% of the world’s population and many of them experience pregnancy at some point in their lives. Yet, the research and training for the pre/postnatal population was and is still relatively limited.

Over the past 7 years, Megan has made it her life’s work to learn all she could about empowering this group.

What does a prenatal training session look like?

“Every client’s goals are different. Some clients come to me just wanted to stay active in a safe way throughout pregnancy, other clients are looking to build strength and learn breathing and pushing techniques for labor and delivery, some clients are striving to achieve a specific fitness goal during pregnancy, and others are looking for a safe space where they will be held accountable and move their bodies in a productive way.

I always start sessions with 360 breathing and pelvic floor work, incorporate prenatal safe core work, focus on functional prenatal-focused strength training and give clients some helpful cardio intervals and stretches.

There are many exercises and stretches that can either lead to a pregnancy-related pain, or help mitigate that pain. My job is to work with the client move by move, to determine what is best for them during any given session.

I have had clients doing modified pull ups and barbell cleans in the 3rd trimester, and other clients who want to focus on bodyweight exercise and prenatal yoga-style movements. Whatever your energy levels, fitness equipment and goals are leaning toward, I will be there to support you in them!”

“Megan is the absolute best! Kind, knowledgeable, hardworking and empathetic. I was mentally and physically ready for labor and delivery and I cannot thank her enough!”

Postpartum Training

“I thought moving throughout my pregnancy and having an empowering delivery would be my biggest hurdle. No one prepared me for how difficult the postpartum journey was going to be. Lack of sleep, a drastic change in hormones, my body physically healing from the inside out, navigating nursing and motherhood all proved to be more than I expected. While I was praised by my fellow gym-goers who exercising while I was pregnant, I returned postpartum, looking like I was healed and recovered, but not knowing who I was in my new body and with my new role. I am here to tell you that regaining your strength, finding yourself, and loving your new body is possible.

My postpartum method stems from rebuilding the core and pelvic floor. I have helped clients health their diastasis gaps and regain control of their pelvic floor (*I do need to refer out to a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist in certain situations).

From there, I take new moms through a comprehensive strength training program. My goal is to help you be able to hold your baby, carry the carseat, do your bath time routine and enjoy life without living in pain.

One you have built a strong foundation, I graduate moms to the “performance stage” where we safely re-introduce impact and progress to more complex movements.”
