They aren’t pretty but they are undoubtably a superfood! I have long been throwing Chia seeds into my banana muffins, but I started craving a sweet treat and have been religiously making Chia Seed Pudding. It takes 30 seconds to make and a few hours to fully set and can be enjoyed over several minutes 🙂
Heres some info about these little seeds-
For every 2 Tablespoons, Chia Seeds pack:
- 115 Calories
- 4 grams of Protein
- 7.5 grams of Fat
- 8 grams of Fiber
According to Bodybuilding.com Chia Seeds also have:
- Five times the omega-3 content of a 1/4-cup serving of walnuts
- Twice the iron and magnesium of a cup of spinach
- As much calcium as a half-cup of milk
- As much potassium as a third of a banana
- More than twice the fiber of a cup of oatmeal
Here is my go to recipe…
Ingredients:
- 1/8 cup chia seeds
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
- Optional: splash/touch of sweetener of your choice
Making it:
- Put the chia seeds into a 1 cup pyrex container or your cup or bowl of choice
- Pour in the milk (plus some more … I fill up my 1 cup container)
- Stir thoroughly
- Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight
Enjoying it
- Stir thoroughly (chia seeds have a tendency to clump)
- Top with whatever your ❤ desires
- Enjoy!
